Fractions and Virtual Manipulatives: Call for teacher participants

Are you looking for fresh ideas for how to support your students’ fraction learning?

Are you interested in learning more about how to teach with virtual manipulatives—both as you teach remotely and when you return to your physical classroom?

I am a PhD student seeking 4th and 5th grade teachers to participate in a study about how teachers think about virtual manipulatives.

Together, the 6-12 participating teachers and I will explore several virtual manipulatives, think about how they support student learning, and brainstorm tasks students might work on as they use them.

We will focus on fractions, but you will leave with ideas about how to best use any virtual manipulative.

Project Activities:

  • Complete two online surveys (30 minutes total).
  • Attend three 1-hour professional learning sessions on Zoom with 30-minute tasks to complete between sessions.
  • Complete two virtual one-on-one interviews with the researcher (90 minutes total)

There is a $100 stipend for participation. Additional learning experiences and compensation are available if you choose to continue with the study.
