About Me

My name is Katie Rich. I’m currently a Senior Researcher at American Institutes for Research. I recently completed my PhD in Educational Technology. I’m particularly interested in the role of technology in supporting conceptual learning, how that role plays out in early mathematics and computer science education.

My dissertation researcher focused how teachers think about the potential of virtual mathematics manipulatives for transforming their teaching and their students’ thinking. At AIR, I hope to continue researching how teachers leverage technology affordances to support student thinking and learning.

Outside of my educational and professional pursuits, I love to travel, create crafts, and solve any sort of puzzle.
